The New Year always brings hope of change and inspires new goals. It is normal to feel that wave of encouragement to do the things you said you always wanted to do. Many people seem to get annoyed at the fact that people feel compelled to join gyms, classes, or post new goals for the New Year on socials, but as a friend pointed out, maybe there’s something refreshing about the New Year that inspires us to do better. Let’s not rain on another person’s parade.
I myself have set some newer and higher goals for this year, both short term and long term. I always strive to be better in general, but there are some things I want to tackle. For example, I want to go back to school to purse an endeavor I haven’t been able to put out of my head for the past 6 months. Who wants to go back to school?!? I know.. . I know. That’s just one. The other is to get back to meditation roots. I miss it and I miss how I felt during the years I practiced it. I also just want to do the things I love more. I want to watch all the series I want to watch regardless if anyone thinks watching TV is a waste of time. I want to read more. I want to eat out less. I want to be more conscious of the things I put into my body. These are just some of things I’ve put at the top of my list, but as the year goes on I’m sure there will be other things added to it.
Is setting goals for the New Year something you enjoy? No judgment here. I enjoyed the newness or at least the thought of the newness (it isn’t really that new, we’re still doing a lot of the same things lol) and how it feels. I hope to stay inspired and I hope you do too!
Oh and I brought in the New Year in Cuba. Will share some of that experience with you soon!
